Madera Co. superintendent won't run

Sally Frazier, superintendent of the Madera County Office of Education, says she will not seek re-election in June.

Frazier, who has served six terms as superintendent since 1986, is the second-longest-serving sitting county superintendent in the state. Bill Cirone of Santa Barbara County has the longest tenure.

In a statement Wednesday, she did not say why she was not seeking re-election and could not be reached for comment. "It has been a privilege to have served Madera County for the past 30 years, 23 of which have been as your County Superintendent of Schools," Frazier said.
