Woodville Union Elementary School is accepting donations to help pay for the funeral costs of two students and their mother who were killed in a traffic accident Tuesday evening.

Donations can be sent to the school at 16541 Road 168, Porterville, CA 93257. Checks should be made out to Woodville Union Elementary School in Care of the Silva Family, said Superintendent Dondreia Bradley, who can be contacted at (559) 686-9712.

A Silva family relative said the bodies will be flown to Mexico.

Jose Silva Covarrubias, 11, a sixth-grader at the school, Elizabeth Silva Covarrubias, 6, a second-grader, and their mother, Maria Silva Covarrubias, 30, died in the accident about three miles west of Woodville.

The California Highway Patrol said Jose was driving a Honda Civic on Tuesday when he ran a stop sign. The Honda was struck by a pickup driven by Charles Seguin, 44, of Porterville.

Froylon Zamora Gonzalez, who was in the Honda, had major injuries and remained in critical condition late Thursday.
