Man suspected of exposing self to Roosevelt teen

Fresno police are looking for a man suspected of exposing himself Tuesday morning to a 15-year-old girl walking to Roosevelt High School.

The girl, who police and school officials have not identified, was walking near East Iowa and North Barton avenues about 8:15 a.m. when the man stopped his truck ahead of her, got out and opened the hood.

As the girl walked past the truck, the man exposed himself and made sexually explicit comments.

The girl ran away. Another girl, also 15, helped her get to the principal's office to report the incident.

The girl initially told school officials and police that the man had also tried to grab her.

"She was upset and she misspoke," Fresno Unified School District spokeswoman Susan Bedi said.

School officials alerted the Roosevelt campus as well as surrounding schools, Bedi said.

Police describe the man as white, possibly in his 40s, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He has blond to brown hair and facial hair and was last seen wearing a blue and black checked jacket and white jeans.

The truck is an older white single-cab Chevrolet in poor condition.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
