At midnight, Fresno State kicked off a first-of-its-kind massive 24-hour fundraiser online and in the community.
The event is called Fresno State DOG, which stands for Day of Giving. University-affiliated groups have transformed their online platforms with logos of a dog house, clock and paw print.
Each Fresno State school and college is participating and hosting events all day Thursday encouraging alumni, friends, faculty, staff, parents and students to donate. Schools and colleges are competing for a portion of a $75,000 challenge. The more supporters each area receives, the greater the percentage of challenge funds they will receive at the end of the day. Donation totals are displayed in real time on leaderboards on the Day of Giving website.
Social media on Thursday was buzzing about the fundraiser, and a hashtag for the event was trending on Twitter in the Fresno area. Even the school’s mascot, Victor E. Bulldog III was contributing to the cause.
