Students at Fresno's Edison Computech took a step back in time Friday as they participated in Civil War Day.
Principal Jeremy Ward and eighth-grade teacher Judith Swick, who started the program, said this is the event's 12th year and it has grown over the years to include all eighth-graders at Edison Computech.
"It started off as a small thing," Ward said, "but it slowly evolved into something much bigger."
Re-enactors were stationed at various locations to demonstrate and explain various aspects of life during the Civil War to groups of students for most of Friday.
One of the highlights of the day consisted of three blank firings of a mountain howitzer for the entire group of students lined up behind a cordoned section.
