A Visalia man was arrested Tuesday and charged with fraud after allegedly filing claims with his insurance company while continuing to work, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said.
Adam Charles Bree, 32, was charged with insurance fraud, contracting without a license, failing to secure payment of compensation, and demand for excessive down payment in a home improvement contract, the district attorney’s office said.
Losses to Bree’s insurance company totaled over $37,000. If convicted, Bree faces restitution and up to six years in prison, the district attorney’s office said.
Bree’s arrest comes after the California Department of Insurance awarded a $500,000 grant to the district attorney’s office to investigate worker’s compensation insurance fraud.
