A man was arrested after leading deputies on a nearly 20-mile pursuit out of Fresno just after midnight Tuesday, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.
Police said Marcos Larios, 26, of Fresno, was swerving in his GMC pickup on Highway 41 south near McKinley Avenue when officers tried to pull him over.
Instead of stopping, he entered Highway 180 and exited at Clovis Avenue, where he hit the back of a parked Honda Accord. The collision also caused him to hit an Ecolab company truck that was driving south on Clovis Avenue, the sheriff’s office said. The driver was not hurt, but the truck was damaged.
Larios’ tire was damaged after that incident, but he continued at speeds of 85 to 90 mph, reaching westbound American Avenue, south on Golden State Boulevard, then west on Manning Avenue before entering Highway 99. The California Highway Patrol and sheriff’s deputies set up a traffic break at Merced Street, where Larios was forced to stop.
Larios was arrested on suspicion of evading a peace officer and DUI hit-and-run. A breathalyzer determined his blood alcohol content to be 0.27, which is more than three times the legal limit.
