‘It’s not worth dying over,’ bicycle thief tells victim, police say

A suspect who police said stole a man’s bicycle, telling the victim “it’s not worth dying over,” was arrested by police a few minutes later in central Fresno on Wednesday night.

Sgt. Ritch O’Dell said the victim was riding near Cedar and Shields avenues about 11:18 p.m. when he was confronted by Thomas Sandoval, 25, who grabbed the bike.

When the victim ran after him, Sandoval made the threatening comment, O’Dell said. The victim understood it to mean Sandoval had a firearm.

Officers saw Sandoval near Cortand Way and Fisher Avenue a short time later and Sandoval was booked on robbery charges. No gun was found.
