Coalinga man arrested for attempted murder after family member beaten with bat

A Coalinga man was arrested on charges of attempted murder early Wednesday morning after allegedly beating a family member in the head with a bat.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Haliburton Way at 2:04 a.m. to a call of a family disturbance. The suspect, identified as Shohei Lambert, 25, of Coalinga, had barricaded himself in a master bedroom bathroom and was refusing to leave, preventing medical personnel from providing aid to the victim.

After repeated orders, Lambert eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

The victim suffered major head and facial injuries and was flown to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

Lambert will be booked into the Fresno County Jail on a felony charge of attempted murder.
