Police confiscate assault weapon after fight in southeast Fresno

An out-of-state assault weapon was confiscated after a scuffle between two apartment neighbors in southeast Fresno on Saturday evening, police said.

Officers responded to the 4500 block of East White Avenue, near Belmont and Cedar avenues, around 5:50 p.m. after two neighbors in an apartment complex were fighting, Sgt. James Rossetti said. Police were told that a firearm was in one of the apartments and got consent to search it.

Police found an AR-15 carbine that is illegal in California, with a collapsible stock, pistol grip and an illegal magazine release, Rossetti said. The owner of the weapon told police it came from Washington state.

Emily Kim, 30, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an assault weapon and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail, Rossetti said.
