A man was shot in the leg and an occupied home was hit several times after a passing car opened fire Monday in a southwest Fresno neighborhood, police said.

The Fresno Police Department said a man in his 30s was walking in the 100 block of East Kearney Boulevard near Modoc Street around 4:20 p.m. when an early 2000s black Volkswagen Jetta drove by and fired several rounds from an unknown gun.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not lethal, police said. An occupied home on the corner was struck by gunfire, but no one inside was injured.

Police said one of the car’s occupants appeared to be in his 30s and wore a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
