Orange Cove police shot and killed two pit bulls that attacked and bit an officer Wednesday afternoon, Chief Marty Rivera reported.
The incident took place shortly after 2 p.m., after officers were called to the area of Fifth and E streets, where a woman reported that she had been attacked by the dogs, one of which tore the leg of her pants. When officers arrived, the dogs charged an officer and bit his calf. The officer defended himself with his service weapon, killing both dogs.
Rivera said the owner of the dogs may be cited in connection with the incident.
