Police are searching for a man they say stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s lover Tuesday afternoon at her Fresno home.

Lt. Joe Gomez said the victim was at his girlfriend’s home near Fremont Avenue and Third Street. As he drove off, another man ran up to his car and stabbed him through an open car window.

The victim sped away, knocking the suspect to the ground. He eventually crashed trying to evade the man.

Gomez said the victim was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was in stable condition Tuesday.

The suspect was identified as David Anthony Amaro, 35, of Parlier. Amaro was last seen driving away from the scene in a newer model black sedan, Gomez said. Amaro was described as Hispanic, 5 feet 11 inches and 220 pounds. He may have been injured when the victim knocked him to the ground.

Amaro is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.

Gomez said the victim had no idea his girlfriend, who he’d been involved with for only two weeks, broke up with Amaro approximately three weeks ago. Amaro did not take the breakup well, Gomez added.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
