The Fresno County District Attorney’s office filed a misdemeanor criminal complaint on Wednesday against the former Fresno police officer accused of pimping out his girlfriend to an undercover vice detective in July.
Robert Knight, 43, was charged with one count of supervising or aiding the act of prostitution. His girlfriend, 29-year-old Alicia Stapleton, was charged with one misdemeanor count of prostitution. Both are scheduled to appear in Fresno County Superior Court on Sept. 8 for arraignment.
Knight resigned in July just days after he learned his department was investigating him after Stapleton’s arrest. Stapleton, who works part-time as a legal prostitute at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada, was arrested on July 9 after she allegedly agreed to perform a sexual act for money with an undercover Fresno police detective.
If convicted, both Knight and Stapleton face up to a year in Fresno County jail.
