Fresno police reported recovering two firearms that a fleeing suspect tossed on Highway 180 during a pursuit early Wednesday.
Sgt. Bob Reynolds of the Violent Crime Impact Team said the man suspected of throwing the guns from the car was identified as Ibn-Luqman Haqq, 19, of Fresno. Haqq was arrested on weapons and evading charges as well as outstanding warrants.
Reynolds said officers initially spotted Haqq driving near Blackstone and Olive avenues in central Fresno about 12:45 a.m. and suspected the car was stolen because the driver was trying to avoid them.
When they attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver sped onto westbound Highway 180 at high speed and tossed the weapons from car. Haqq reportedly ran into an apartment complex at Marks and Olive avenues, west of Highway 99, where he was taken into custody. He was booked into Fresno County Jail.
