Naked Porterville man arrested for killing dog and biting police officer

Porterville police arrested a man on animal cruelty charges and assault on a peace officer early Sunday.

Police say Oscar Castaneda, 27, was standing naked near the corner of Thurman Avenue and Third Street with a small dead dog near him.

Witnesses said Castaneda caused the dog’s injuries.

When police arrived shortly before 7 a.m., they found Castaneda in an agitated and incoherent state of mind. As officers tried to arrest him, he began kicking and biting officers and reached for their guns.

He bit one officer in the arm and had to be subdued with a stun gun.

Castaneda was booked into Tulare County Jail for animal cruelty, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and several other counts.
