The driver of a pickup truck pointed a gun at two people while fleeing from the scene of a crash in Visalia on Sunday, police said.

The man slammed a black 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche into a power pole and then crashed through a fence at a home in the 800 block of West Murray Avenue. The downed pole dropped at least one live power line onto the street.

The driver then ran from the vehicle, heading south on the sidewalk. At one point, witnesses told police, he appeared to drop the handgun. After picking it up, he apparently pointed the weapon at a man and a woman standing nearby.

No gunshots were reported and the man left the area on foot.

The crash was reported around 4 p.m.

Police described the driver a possible Hispanic or white man believed to be in his 20s or 30s who may have a mustache. He last was seen wearing a red or maroon-colored shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 559-713-4729.
