Gunshot victim tells dispatcher alleged shooter’s name, then refuses to cooperate, police say

A 38-year-old gunshot victim called for medical help Easter Sunday then refused to cooperate with investigators, according to Fresno police Lt. Stephen Viveros.

The man was taken to the hospital with at least one gunshot wound to the lower body. He is in stable condition.

The shooting happened just before noon at an apartment complex on Dakota, west of Palm. Multiple 911 callers told police they heard at least one gunshot.

The victim also called 911.

Viveros said, during the call, the man told dispatchers the first name of the person who shot him. When officers and an ambulance arrived, however, the man refused to give any information about the suspected shooter or say what may have sparked the violence.

Police believe the incident was a personal dispute, and investigators are canvassing the area, searching for surveillance video that may hold more information.

Anyone with information can call Fresno police at 559-621-7000.
