Have stick, will steal: Police seek bank deposit thief

Fresno police are hunting a suspect who uses a stick and a piece of flypaper to steal thousands from bank night deposit boxes.

So far, two banks, a Union Bank in the 500 block of East Shaw Avenue, and a Bank of America in the 3700 block of North Blackstone Avenue, have been targeted by the suspect, according to Chief Jerry Dyer.

The Bank of America was targeted March 18, unsuccessfully, and again March 28.

The Union Bank was hit Feb. 9 and March 3.

In one of the robberies, the suspect made off with about $8,000.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5-feet 10 to 6-feet tall and 150 to 170 pounds.
