A man on a sidewalk was intentionally struck by a van Sunday afternoon in southwest Fresno by a driver who left the scene, police reported.
Police said the suspected driver, described as a man in his 40s whose name was not immediately available, was arrested a short time later. Police also said they’ve seized the vehicle believed to have been used in the alleged attack.
Investigators have not commented on any possible motive for the violence.
Officers said the victim was struck by a gray Dodge van while he was on a sidewalk in the 800 block of West Eden Avenue, near Teilman Avenue. After striking the victim, the van then slammed into a wrought-iron fence outside a home in the area.

The victim’s name was not immediately available. Authorities said he appeared to be in his 50s.
Officers said the victim suffered moderate injuries to his legs and taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
