An alleged Bulldog gang member was arrested Saturday morning after police said he threatened to kill his girlfriend.

The 21-year-old Fresno man, indentified as Alex Valladares, is also suspected of being involved in pimping and prostitution and was armed with a handgun, police said.

Officers were dispatched to a motel in the area of Parkway Drive in southwest Fresno around 10:45 a.m., according to Fresno Police Sgt. Pete Boyer.

There, they met with a 22-year-old woman who said her boyfriend, who was also her pimp, threatened to shoot her and put her in the trunk of his car. Officers noticed bruising on the victim’s face and body that seemed consistent with long-term physical abuse, Boyer said.

Officers found Valladares walking north on Parkway Drive, where he was taken into custody. He had a loaded handgun in his waistband at the time, Boyer said. Officers learned that Valladares may also have access to an assault-style rifle. But after serving a search warrant at his home in the 3000 block of West Cambridge Avenue, officers were unable to find the weapon, Boyer said.

Valladares was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats to do bodily harm, pimping, carrying a loaded firearm and carrying a loaded firearm after conviction of specific crimes, Boyer said.
