A man was arrested in southwest Fresno May 7 for allegedly using a stolen U-Haul truck to steal copper wire and ceramic insulators from PG&E, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Spokesman Tony Botti said that Nicholaus Enochs, 37, of Fresno, was arrested after Ag Task Force detectives witnessed him enter the stolen truck.

Detectives first noticed the truck as they were driving past the Chevron gas station at 4021 S. Maple Ave. They waited for around 45 minutes before seeing Enochs enter the truck and drive away, Botti said.

The detectives stopped Enochs, and a search of the truck yielded large amounts of the PG&E wire and insulators. They also found a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana inside the truck.

Enochs was booked on charges of vehicle theft, possessing stolen property, vandalism and drug possession. He posted bond and bailed out of jail.
