A man armed with two sporting rifles was shot and killed by Kings County sheriff’s deputies near Highway 43 and Kansas Avenue south of Hanford around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, sheriff’s Commander Steve Fry said.
The man, believed to have been in his 60s, fired a round from one of his rifles before deputies returned fire, Fry said. Deputies had been called to the scene because the man parked his vehicle on a farmer’s property.
The man died at the scene. No other civilians or deputies were injured, Fry said.
