A man who said he was carrying a loaded .357 magnum because he had recently been “jumped” was arrested early Thursday by police in southwest Fresno.
Oscar Gonzalez, 30, appeared nervous when officers stopped to talk to him at Tulare and First streets, police Sgt. Antonio Rivera said. When officers began a pat-down search, Gonzalez said he was carrying the Smith & Wesson revolver, registered to a man in the Bay Area, for self-defense.
Gonzalez was booked on weapons charges.
