A man stabbed near a homeless camp in southeast Fresno was rushed to a hospital Tuesday morning, police reported.
Lt. Joe Gomez said the 26-year-old victim is in stable condition at Community Regional Medical Center.
Officers were called to the camp near Harvey and Recreation avenues about 10:40 a.m. to check a report that the victim was lying in the roadway and bleeding. They determined he had been stabbed in his torso.
Gomez said the victim lives in the camp with a girlfriend.

The suspect, in his 30s and a Spanish speaker, came to the camp to ask about buying a bicycle from the victim. The suspect left and returned about 10 minutes later. While discussing the sale, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, then ran north on Recreation Avenue.
The suspect was wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans and carrying a type of black case that contains a computer.
