Police are looking for a man who allegedly stalked two children, one of whom he threatened with a gun, while trying to lure them into his van Sunday evening in Dinuba.
The first kidnap attempt happened about 6 p.m. as the man followed a 13-year-old girl who was walking home from Dinuba High School. The vehicle, described by witnesses as an older green van, pulled up next to the girl and the man motioned her to get in. The girl ignored him, but he followed her until she yelled at him to leave her alone.
Forty-five minutes later, officers responded to reports of another kidnap attempt involving the green van. A 12-year-old boy told police he was forced into the suspect’s van at gunpoint, though he was able to escape and run back home.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, unshaven and in his 30s or 40s, and was last seen wearing a red or brown shirt. No other suspects are believed to be involved, police said.
