Man, 22, shot four times in SE Fresno and survives

A 22-year-old man survived after being shot four times Thursday night in southeast Fresno, police reported.

Lt. Joe Gomez said he did not know if the shooting was gang-related.

The incident took place about 9:30 p.m. at Chestnut Avenue and Mono Street. The victim told officers that he was riding his bicycle near the Ranchwood Condos in the 4800 block of East Lane Avenue when he was accosted by a group of males who demanded to know what he was doing in the area. The victim said he did not reply and continued on his way to a bus stop.

A short time later, a white car pulled up next to him and someone inside opened fire. The victim was stuck by bullets on his right hand, right arm, rib cage and left leg. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he is recovering.

Gomez said the man was not able to identify his attackers.
