Clovis police served a search warrant early Thursday morning at the West Ellery Avenue house where a man was found dead with a gunshot wound the night before.
The warrant was served around 3 a.m., said spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee who confirmed the death was a homicide. Detectives plan to interview the homeowner and people who knew the man, who was in his 20s, she said.
Police were called to a house in the 600 block of West Ellery around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday about an injured man. Other calls were also made by neighbors who heard shots fired nearby.
When officers arrived, they found the man with a gunshot wound lying in a room, Stoll-Lee said.

Clovis Animal Services was also called to the house to handle six dogs that were inside the home. The dogs, which range from Chihuahuas to pit bull mixes, are being cared for at the Animal Receiving and Care Center on Villa Avenue until family members are found.
