Several Fresnans were targeted Sunday in a phone scam involving a man who claimed he was soliciting donations for the Fresno Police Officers’ Association.
Fresno police said man, who has not been identified, called several people, told them he represented the “FPOA” and requested cash donations for the families of officers who’ve been killed or injured on the job. Police said Monday the man does not represent the association, which does not ask for donations from individuals.
Anyone who has been affected by the scam is asked to report the crime to Fresno police at (559) 621-7000.
