Convicted felon arrested in Madera County in theft, gun possession

A convicted felon was arrested Thursday morning after authorities found a stolen boat motor and several guns in his southeast Madera County home.

Madera County sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant on the home on Brookhill Road after receiving a tip about a stolen boat motor. When detectives searched the home, they recovered the stolen property and found 24 firearms and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition that were used for hunting animals. Several game animals’ heads were also found inside a freezer, authorities said. The California Fish and Game Commission later confirmed that the suspect did not have the proper tags for hunting animals.

Jeremy Huff, who was imprisoned in 2004 for grand theft, was arrested during the search. Huff was booked into Madera County Department of Corrections for possessing stolen property and being a felon in possession of firearms.
