A 17-year-old Dog Pound gang member was arrested Wednesday night as he attempted to flee a crime scene in his mom’s car, police reported.
A police spokesman said officers near Eunice and Lorena avenues in southwest Fresno saw a car speeding through a residential neighborhood about 9 p.m. and followed it to Pottle and California avenues, where all four occupants jumped from the moving vehicle and ran.
The car, which turned out to be stolen, crashed into a fence as the four disappeared into the neighborhood. Inside the car was a .45 caliber pistol stolen in a northwest Fresno residential burglary.
Officers took the juvenile into custody shortly after he made a cell phone call to his mother, asking for a ride. Police still were looking for the other three who were in the car.
