Man tries to kidnap boy near Madera school, sheriff investigators say

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office said a male driver tried to kidnap an 11-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon near Webster Elementary School in the Madera Ranchos.

The Sheriff’s Office said the boy was walking along the street when a minivan pulled up behind him and the male driver asked the boy if he wanted a ride.

The boy refused, but the man offered to take him to his house, the sheriff’s office said.

After the boy refused a second time, the man slowly drove away, deputies said.

The suspect is described as a white male adult with tanned or olive-toned skin, dark or black hair combed forward and a thin mustache.

He was wearing a blue polo shirt and tan shorts, driving a 2012 or newer white Nissan minivan with tinted windows, deputies said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770.
