A man found dead near a Visalia business Monday was apparently killed by gunfire, police said on Tuesday.
Visalia police Sgt. Damon Maurice said that Julian Joseph Contreras, 34, was found in the 900 block of North Burke Street after several employees noticed him lying near their workplace. Officers determined Contreras was dead upon their arrival just before 7 p.m. Monday.
Maurice said Contreras is believed to have died from multiple gunshot wounds. The case is being treated as a homicide, and no arrests have been made.
