Man held in Visalia shooting after near-crash with family

A man was arrested Saturday evening after he fired a gun at a car with a couple and their two children following a near collision in Visalia, police said Sunday.

Officers responded to a gun report in the area of Feemster Avenue and Dollner Street about 7:10 p.m. They learned that two adults and their children were nearly involved in a collision with another car. That car's driver became angry, pointed a handgun toward the family's vehicle and fired a shot as they drove away.

No one was injured and police did not find any property damage.

Officers contacted a man who matched the gunman's description in the front yard of a home. The man, John Litchfield, 53, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and weapons charges, police said. The gun suspected of being used in the shooting was recovered.
