Two suspects in Fresno locked selves out of stolen vehicle, police say

Two people were arrested Tuesday in southwest Fresno after police say they locked themselves out of a stolen vehicle, then tried to break in to retrieve their personal items.

Police said a witness saw a woman trying to break the sunroof of the vehicle to grab an item.

Police found Michelle Mcneal, 32, and Nicholas Campbell, 28, sitting at a bus stop in the area of Martin Avenue and Fresno Street.

Police said the suspects were later identified by a witness who had seen them removing property from the victim’s vehicle.

Police said a loaded .357 Magnum was found inside Mcneal’s purse.

The vehicle had been stolen out of Hawthorne and was reported as carjacked, police said.

Campbell admitted to locking himself out of the vehicle, which is why Mcneal had to enter through the sunroof to get her belongings, police said.

Campbell admitted to possessing the vehicle but denied knowing it was carjacked, police said

Campbell was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property and illegal possession of a firearm.

Mcneal was booked for illegal possession of a firearm.
