A Porterville man warming up his vehicle Wednesday had it stolen by two carjackers who soon crashed it, police said.
About 5:35 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Kanai Avenue, two men forcibly removed the victim from his vehicle and drove away, Porterville police said.
About 30 minutes later, the vehicle hit a fence in the 2100 block of West Orange Avenue and two men abandoned it.
Using a police dog, officers tracked Frankie Rodriguez, 22, and Humberto Ruiz, 21, through the dry bed of the Tule River to a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 400 block of West Springville Avenue.
They confessed and were jailed in the carjacking, police said.
