Strathmore driver, two children hurt in DUI accident

A woman has been arrested for felony drunk driving after her car overturned, injuring two children and herself, the California Highway Patrol said.

About 1:15 a.m. Monday, Deisy Montoya, 29, of Strathmore, was driving a 2009 Nisssan Sentra south on Highway 65 near Avenue 208 between Strathmore and Lindsay when she lost control, went off the road and hit a dirt embankment, the CHP said.

An 11-year-old boy sustained major injuries and a 6-year-old girl had moderate injuries, the CHP said. The driver also had moderate injuries; all were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

They were wearing seats belts and using a child seat, the CHP said.

The case is being sent to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office as a felony DUI because the incident resulted in injuries, the CHP said.
