Northeast Fresno DUI checkpoint nets six arrests

The Fresno Police Department arrested six people for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at a Saturday night DUI checkpoint staged near the intersection of Cedar and Bullard avenues.

In addition to the six arrests, police also impounded 11 vehicles driven by either DUI suspects or drivers without a valid license. The names of those arrested were not provided.

Another checkpoint near the intersection of Shaw and Brawley avenues on Friday night yielded nine arrests and 15 impounded vehicles, police said.

Also, Visalia police made one DUI arrest during a saturation patrol of the city between 9 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday. Officers stopped 30 vehicles, resulting in 20 citations including two for driving without a valid license and one for driving on a suspended license. Visalia police impounded one car.
