An 18-year-old who crashed his red Ford Mustang into a Visalia home early Friday was arrested on suspicion of DUI driving but was later released from police custody.
Visalia police spokesman Sgt. Damon Maurice said Edgar Rafael Reyes was released after he was treated for minor injuries at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia. His blood test will be forwarded to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether DUI charges should be filed against him.
Maurice said Reyes was found incoherent and upside down in his overturned Mustang around 12:20 a.m. in the area of Riggin Avenue and Turner Street.
He was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed along westbound Riggin Avenue when he veered off the road and crashed into a house. Maurice said the Mustang was totaled, but there was only minor damage to the home. Its residents were not injured.
Visalia police continue to investigate the crash.
