A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence and attempted murder in North Fork on Thursday after a standoff with deputies that lasted several hours.
Lt. Bill Ward with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said William Elias was wanted in connection to an incident that occurred in North Fork the day before. Ward said Elias allegedly caused serious injuries to a woman, who was not named or identified further, but she wasn’t hospitalized. No other details were provided.
Deputies said Elias holed up in his residence on Road 225 in North Fork after slamming the door on them Thursday afternoon. Deputies eventually were able to speak with him over the phone, and after several hours of negotiations he agreed to surrender and was booked into the Madera County jail.
