Three suspects were arrested in the robbery of a pair of teenage sisters last month in east-central Fresno after detectives found a video of the robbery posted on Facebook by one of the alleged robbers.
Tony Botti, spokesman for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, said the girls were walking home from school in the area of Barton and Princeton avenues on Jan. 22 when Leanna Risueno, 18, approached and snatched one of their purses. It fell to the ground and was allegedly picked up by Steven Vang, 24, who was recording the robbery.
Botti said the duo — along with an unnamed 14-year-old who unsuccessfully tried to rip the shoes off the girls’ feet — then ran back to their car and drove away. Along with the purse, Botti said the suspects stole clothing and jewelry.
The teenage sisters noticed Vang was recording the robbery and their friends found it posted on Facebook, which led to the trio’s arrest.
Botti said the robbery victims only sustained minor scrapes and did not know the three who robbed them.
Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
