Fresno police said a 4-year-old girl was found alone in the room of a central Fresno Motel 6 around noon Tuesday.
Police spokesman Lt. Joe Gomez said the girl’s mother, Nicole Ramsey, 20, was cited by police on suspicion of misdemeanor child endangerment. Child Protective Services responded to evaluate the situation.
Police were dispatched to the motel located at 4245 N. Blackstone Ave. after a cleaning maid at the motel reported finding the girl and a puppy alone in a room.
Gomez said Ramsey and her boyfriend returned to the motel room after police arrived. The 4-year-old reportedly told the maid her mother was out looking for a babysitter. Ramsey claimed a relative was with the child when she left for Target with her boyfriend at 10 a.m., but Gomez said witnesses and video evidence show no one came in or out of room once the pair left.
Gomez said Ramsey was also pulled over around 10 a.m. Tuesday while riding in a Nissan Maxima along Shaw Avenue near Fashion Fair Mall. Gomez said the Nissan’s male driver, who was not named, was driving recklessly. The detective who pulled him over determined he wasn’t under the influence of drugs or alcohol and released him.
