Police arrested a Fresno man Thursday after he crashed a stolen car into three other vehicles while attempting to escape.
Officers near North Crystal and West Dakota avenues in central Fresno saw Robert Castro, 34, get into a car that was under auto theft surveillance about 4:15 p.m. and attempt to drive away, police said. The suspect then drove onto the sidewalk, collided into a car as he was merging back into the street, rammed into another police car trying to stop him and tried to run away.
Castro was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and other assault charges. Two people struck in the incident were treated for injuries at a hospital.
