A man who set his wife on fire has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
Eugene Bruno, 49, of Visalia, pleaded guilty last month to attempted murder, aggravated mayhem, torture, corporal injury to a spouse and assault with a flammable substance.
At sentencing Monday, Tulare County Superior Court Judge Gary Paden imposed the maximum penalty, the District Attorney’s Office said.
On June 29, 2013, Bruno doused his wife with gasoline in their Visalia home and set her on fire. She suffered third degree burns to 80% of her body.
