A jury on Friday found Armando Manriquez Lemus, 28, of Porterville, guilty of attempted murder in a stabbing case in which the victim was his cousin, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said.
He was also found guilty of false imprisonment by violence and resisting a peace officer, and the jury agreed with special allegations that he used a deadly weapon and caused great bodily injury.
On July 16, 2013, Lemus visited his cousin, confronting him in a bedroom and stabbing him about 70 times in his body, neck and back. After Lemus closed the door, the victim called 911 for help.
Lemus refused to let officers in the home and pushed an officer who tried to detain him.
He faces 11 years, 8 months to life in state prison at his sentencing Feb. 26.
