Fresno police thwarted the theft of 50 computers from a northeast Fresno school early Friday morning.
Officers raced to Ahwahnee Middle School in the 1100 block of East Escalon Avenue in response to a report of a burglary in progress, police Sgt. Richard Brown reported.
About 12:30 a.m., officers received the report that intruders were inside the school library, Brown said. Officers surrounded the school and discovered the computers were taken from a back room. While checking the area, they found two backpacks containing 49 tablets and one laptop computer.
One of the suspects was captured while trying to run away and two others were arrested nearby, Brown said.
Armando Magana, 19, and Isaiah Rucks, 19, were booked into Fresno County Jail on burglary charges. A juvenile was booked on burglary charges and placed in juvenile hall.
