A man shot early Saturday morning in Clovis sped away and crashed into a Clovis apartment -- the last leg of a bizarre string of events that police said started with a theft.
Clovis police said the injured man -- who was not named and was taken to an area hospital for treatment -- had brought a "girl he'd been texting in Fresno" to a home south of Bullard Avenue. When he went into another room, she reportedly took his money and left.
The man then got into his truck and drove south to Shaw and Minnewawa avenues. He got into an argument with a woman and two men in a car next to a vacant restaurant, and one of the three shot him, police said.
The injured man then drove north on Minnewawa Avenue to Ninth Street, where he crashed into the apartment around 5 a.m. and hit multiple cars when he backed out. A woman inside the apartment was not hurt.
Minnewawa Avenue between Bullard and Barstow avenues was temporarily closed as police investigated.
Clovis police are now looking for a white four-door sedan with an unknown number of occupants. Anyone with information about this case is urged to call Clovis police at (559) 324-2800 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
