A Madera County woman was booked into the county jail Wednesday by sheriff's deputies who were investigating an apparent theft of electricity.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart said deputies made the arrest while checking a complaint by a man who said his apartment on Georgia Avenue was without power. The man said he saw his electricity meter was running but his neighbor's meter was not.
When he shut off his circuit breakers, he saw the lights go out in his neighbor's unit and heard someone curse, Stuart said. A deputy later discovered that the neighbor, 32, was wanted on a felony warrant, Stuart said. Her bail is set at $10,000.
