Fresno man, 68, survives after being hit by train
A man who was squatting on railroad tracks in central Fresno was hit by a train Sunday morning and survived, Fresno police said.
The man had crossed the BNSF railroad tracks near Diana Street and Lewis Avenue just before noon, authorities said. The man then walked back onto the tracks and squatted between the rails, police Lt. Gregg Sanders said.

The train, which was traveling about 20 mph, hit the 68-year-old Fresno man and knocked him to the side. The man, whose name was not made public, suffered a collapsed lung, a cut to the head and several broken bones but is expected to survive, Sanders said.
Fresno police apprehend two men after chase
Fresno police say they have arrested two Bulldog gang members who tried to run from officers Saturday afternoon.
One of the suspects, Steven Trevino, 26, had a concealed handgun that was stolen Saturday from a security guard, who was robbed at gunpoint, police said.
Police said they were near the intersection of Mariposa Street and McKenzie Avenue in central Fresno about 3:30 p.m. when they saw a car "commit a minor traffic violation."
After the vehicle slowed down, Trevino jumped out of the car and ran, but police caught him.
The driver of the vehicle, Jesse Garcia, 27, drove off but struck the center median as he turned north onto First Street from Thomas Avenue. Garcia was arrested after a brief struggle.
Trevino was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen handgun, a parole hold, and resisting and obstructing officers, as well as several other gun charges.
Garcia was arrested on suspicion of failing to yield to officers, resisting and obstructing officers, and a parole hold.
Police said both men are part of the Bond Street Bulldog gang.
Porterville woman, run over by own vehicle, dies
A Porterville woman died Sunday morning after she was run over by her own vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP said the 30-year-old woman, whose name was not made public, was the passenger in a Ford Explorer. About 2:30 a.m. while the Explorer was heading south on Success Valley Drive south of Highway 190 near Porterville, the passenger got out of the Explorer while it was going about 15 mph and was run over by the car.
The CHP said it doesn't know why the woman got out of the vehicle.
Shooting on Madera street injures 21-year-old man
A 21-year-old man was shot in Madera about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, police said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Madera police are investigating the shooting, which occurred on the 1100 block of Oak Street in Madera. The name of the man was not made public.
