A 39-year-old man is accused of selling a gun to his son and another gang member who used the weapon to shoot two people at a party in Calwa, Fresno County Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti reported Friday.
The alleged gunmen were identified as Pete Romero, 20, and Joey Larios, 25. The reported seller of the firearm, also a reputed gang member, is Pete Romero Jr. The arrests were made by members of the rural MAGEC gang task force.
The younger Romero is charged with attempted murder and Larios with assault with a firearm. The pair were arrested July 13 and remained in jail Friday. The older Romero, charged with selling or giving a gun to a prohibited person and later hiding the weapon, was taken into custody the following day but has since bailed out of jail. All three are from Fresno.
The shooting took place in October 2016.
